AK47 Rifle

I hope everyone enjoyed my other blog discussing the AR15 rifle, today I would like to tell you about another popular military-like rifle, which is available in a civilian version, the AK47. The AK47 was introduced in the Soviet Union in the late 1940's by Lieutenant General Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov following World War II. AK47 is an acronym which translated into English means Automatic Kalashnikov 47, for the year in which it was designed. Soon after the USSR adopted the rifle, many other countries (mostly communist countries) such as China, North Korea, many Eastern European countries, and many other nations around the world would adopt the rifle. Today the rifle is the number one most used weapon in the entire world. In the United States, a law-abiding citizen can own one of these wonderful rifles in a semi-automatic version for a good price depending on which city or state you live in. While the AK47 is not anywhere near as accurate as an AR15 it is much more accurate than any pistol you can find, and is probably the most reliable semi-automatic rifle anyone can find. One of the other great things about these rifles is that you can find them in a variety of calibers, including the original 7.62 x 39 mm, 5.45 x 39 mm, .223, .308, 12 gauge, and many more. Yes, you heard right, there is an AK-47 that fires 12 gauge shotgun shells! Today some of the most common civilian AK-47s are made by Century Arms, Izhmash (Saiga), Robinson Arms, Arsenal Inc. and a few more. So if you are a new (law-abiding) or experienced firearm owner and are looking for a cheap inexpensive firearm that is fun to shoot and excellent for home-defense, or hunting, the AK-47 is a great gun for those on a budget, or those who just collect guns for their historical value, this is a great choice.
